What we would have spun in March 2022

Bridgerton season 2, The Adam Project, Pieces of Her, and a licensed week of Shawshank and Shrek. March 2022 was the month that taught us to separate premieres from dumps.

March 2022 is when this blog started treating Netflix’s calendar as the product. Bridgerton season 2, Ryan Reynolds’ The Adam Project, and Toni Collette in Pieces of Her really did land. So did The Shawshank Redemption and Shrek. The old post then listed every other title from Battleship to Super PupZ and closed with a VPN pitch.

The lesson we should have taken: premieres and licensed piles are different jobs for the wheel.

Premieres we would have spun

The Adam Project (March 11) — Reynolds, time travel, one movie. This is the March original we would have set movies + high quality for with a mixed group. It asks less than a Shondaland binge and ends.

Pieces of Her (March 4) — Toni Collette, thriller series. TV, high quality, only if the group wanted several nights. A bad pick if someone said “just a film.”

Bridgerton season 2 (March 25) — the month’s event. TV, high quality, continuation-or-on-purpose. The wheel should not have been how you found out Kate Sharma exists. If the household was already in, one spin after the 25th as a ceremonial starter is fine. If they were not, decide to start season 1 like adults.

The Last Kingdom season 5 (March 9) — same continuation rule, muddier, more swords. Drive to Survive season 4 (March 11) is a documentary habit. Type it.

The March 1 licensed week

U.S. Netflix added The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Shrek, Shrek 2, Top Gun, V for Vendetta, Gattaca, and a lot of horror (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy vs. Jason). That is two or three different nights hiding in one date.

• Want a capital-M Movie: movies, high quality, drama. Hope for Shawshank or Gattaca.
• Want kids in the room: family, high quality. Shrek is the success state.
• Want horror: set horror, or you will get Shrek and sulk.

The Imitation Game (March 28) was a late licensed add worth the same high-quality movie setting.

Region without the VPN speech

The old closer said some movies might not be in your country, “but you can use VPN.” We will say this instead: TV Roulette is not Netflix. We pick from the catalog you select.
